One of the biggest and the best non-fiction book series of our time, Chicken Soup for the Soul, has continued to amaze, inspire and comfort millions around the world. There are over 150 titles in print of these Inspirational books and the list of my “Finished Reading” Chicken Soup for the Soul books is expanding. It has reached 43 now.
I have a few more on my bookshelf now before I go out again and buy new titles of these gems of books. Most of these self-help books have short inspiration-dense 101 stories but the one I am going to review today – Chicken Soup for the Soul: Unlocking the Secrets to Living Your Dreams contains 60+ stories and has some step-by-step instructions for people to follow to live the life of their dreams.
The stories come from some really successful (and famous) people like Tony Robbins, Bob Proctor, etc. in addition to the authors Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen themselves.
Book description (back cover)
– Use your “core genius” to maximize what you achieve
– Surround yourself with a success dream team
– Replace destructive habits with productive habits
– Use gratitude – and the bounty it attracts – as a catalyst
– Overcome fear and adversity so you can attain your goals
Some of the questions raised in the book will make you think. The one that I found really difficult to answer was: “If you could be, do, or have anything in the world, and you knew it would be impossible to fail, what would you choose?”
I have my moments of self-doubt just like anyone on this planet and even though I try to face my fears, I had never let myself dream freely once I entered my teen years. This question kept pestering me for days and I had to finally let myself open up to myself and write what I really wanted from my life. It was so liberating.
I firmly believe that really following the advice given in this book can do wonders for us and help us start walking on the path to our dream life. Even if you are not a big “Inspirational stories” kind of person, you will get an immense amount of knowledge from the first part of the book to fulfill your dreams (Upto Page 55). I have collected some really nice quotes from this book and will be posting them in a separate post in the coming days.
