In my quest for learning new things, I had forgotten how much joy sketching used to bring me as a child. An activity I stopped doing at the age of 9 to concentrate on academics. I thought I could always go back and do it. Indian education system focuses on bookish knowledge only and despite my love for extra curricular activities, I never really tried to pursue my hobbies even in spare time. I lost touch with my creative side.
I have been hosting a Daily Photo Challenge called Photo A Day Experiment (PADE) on my blog for the month of July. It has made me enjoy photography a lot. I was trying to master my new DSLR Nikon D7100 throught the themes of PADE. One particular theme – Cartoon (Day 20) proved to be a bing challenge. I had no idea what to do.
I had always loved drawing and of course like all other kids I loved Tom & Jerry (I still do). So I decided to pick up my sketch pens and pencil to make my own cartoon. I was skeptical about the outcome, but it was my only chance for my PADE entry! And this is what I created:
I know it is not perfect and that a second grader can draw Tom and Jerry better than me but this is my masterpiece and I’m proud of it. Ironically, an hour after drawing this, one of my friends who knows about PADE brought me her Tom & Jerry soft toy for this theme. I added both of the photos to me entry for the theme CARTOON. It was perfect!
