Lantern festivals in Seoul are my favorite! Since March 2012, I have spent a total of 20 months on and off in Seoul. I think I have attended every single festival of my interest in Seoul during my stay and Lotus Lantern Festival and Seoul Lantern Festival are my absolute favorites! Lotus Lantern Festival is observed in the month of May around the time of Buddha’s birthday and Seoul Lantern Festival is observed in November.
I have attended both of these festivals twice and despite both being lantern festivals, they are completely different but equally amazing.
In 2013 the Seoul Lantern festival was observed from the 1st to the 17th of November. I went on one day and took more than a 100 photos and made a few videos. One of things that I really love is Korean paper lamps and they are usually available in little stalls near the venue of the festival. This year also, I took photos of the lantern displayed at the counter and it is so beautiful. And anything beautiful brings me joy!
I love how subtle the light emanating from the lamp is and how divine it looks. I would love to have a pair in my bedroom and living room someday. It may look very materialistic but these paper lamps are so beautiful, I cannot stop myself from smiling!
