In the beginning of this year, my husband told me that he was getting an overseas assignment. It was for South Korea and he wanted me to accompany him. I was ecstatic from that moment and went on gathering information about every Tourist-y thing I could do in three months.
There so many things to do and places to visit in Seoul itself. We applied for our Visas and waited eagerly to travel to one of the most developed places in Asia. Our visa took more time than usual due to holidays and sadly the assignment also got a little delayed. I was getting restless.
Just to keep myself busy I started reading about South Korea in general and ended up in the history of the country. So now finally to the SURPRISE part – this is the information I received about South Korea.
South Korea is amongst the richest countries in the world (15th)
but the surprising part is that it was once amongst the poorest nations in the world (Somewhere around 1960). Now look at the next picture.
The intention is to just portray a part of history of one of the fastest developing nations. The Jongmyo shrine still holds the old world charm even though it is situated in one of the posh areas of Seoul.
Another look st present day Seoul, from an observation deck in Seoul Tower (aka N-Seoul Tower, N for Namsan, the hill on which the tower stands tall). N-Seoul Tower is situated in the middle of Seoul and can be viewed at a distance from many other places, touching the sky.
I think the hardwork of the people of this country has paid off. What do you think? I hope you enjoyed reading this post and hopefully learned a bit about South Korea.
